Noun.  (mathematics) A function of "many-to-one" mapping relationship; more formally, ''f'': ''X'' → ''Y'' is a surjection if and only if, for every ''y'' in the codomain ''Y'', there is at least one ''x'' in the domain ''X'' with ''f''(''x'') = ''y''.
