Noun.  A Russian girls' dress formerly worn by peasants, now used as a costume or as a dress for dolls. It is a long dress running from just below the armpits to the ankles, held up by wide straps over the shoulders and has a wide skirt. Usually it is decorated with a colorful vertical embroidered strip down the front and one or more horizontal rings just above the hemline.
