sanidine

Noun.  (mineralogy) A variety of orthoclase feldspar found as tabular crystals embedded in volcanic rocks. It sometimes reflects a blue sheen along crystal planes. This phenomenon is called ''adularescence'', and sanidine with this property is called ''moonstone''.
