dinq

Adjective.  (military) Delinquent in Nuclear Qualifications. A term used on United States submarines and Naval Nuclear Power Programs to refer to being behind the "curve" (a requisite amount of forward progress in one's qualifications). The term has spread to other parts of the Navy to include all personnel who are behind the required level of progress in qualifications. Repercussions for being "dinq" is often further time at work till often late at night. More often than not though the excessive hours leads to degradation of morale, depression and apathy in the concerned individuals, defeating the originally motivating purpose of said label.
