Noun.  (botany) A multicellular trichome of a leaf or bud scale that produces a sticky secretion. In other words, a group or tuft of mucilaginous secretory hairs, usually found near the base of the leaf lamina and on the calyx. Colleters are found in members of the apocynaceae and asclepiadaceae families.
