Proper noun.  (historical) The regions of Central Asia lying between Siberia to the north; Tibet (Xizang) and Xinjiang, China, modern-day Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran to the south; the (w, Gobi Desert) to the east; and the (w, Caspian Sea) to the west.
