Khazaria

Proper noun.  A polity in medieval Eurasia that occupied much of modern-day European Russia, western Kazakhstan, eastern Ukraine, Azerbaijan, large portions of the northern Caucasus, parts of Georgia, the Crimea, and northeastern Turkey.
